Electronic devices and the library
Students may use electronic devices in the library if and only if they (and a parent) have signed the technology agreement and returned it to WMS. Electronic devices will only be permitted for educational activities and all WMS staff have the ability and responsibility to monitor those devices when the students are in the building. That means we can look at the screen and if the device isn't being used to the educational standard we expect, the device will be confiscated (taken away). One of the best ways to use your electronic device appropriately in the library is to read a book on it. We like to see technology used, especially in educational manners!

Our furniture is for student use, but we ask that all students follow a few simple guidelines to ensure their safety and the safety of the furniture. Our bouncy/rocking chairs are limited to one student at a time. Please do not sit in those chairs with your friends because they have a weight limit and they will break. Three students may sit on the couch at a time. Please do not sit on the back of the couch or on the armrests. The blue chairs at the tables rock back, but don't rock too far or you may fall over backwards!
Students may check out two books at a time after Quarter 1. However, if you are only going to read one book at a time, only check out one book at a time. If a book is lost/damaged, the student that book was checked out to will not be allowed to check out any more materials until the book has been found and returned or replaced. If a student (or a student's parent) pays for a lost material and said material is returned within ONE WEEK (5 school days) of payment, the full payment will be returned. However, if more than a week has passed, we thank you for your donation to WMS.
This is our security system. If someone attempts to leave the library holding a book that belongs to WMS and this beeps, that means:
1.) You forgot to check out your book. Turn around and come back to the check-out desk.
2.) Either Ms. Anderson or Mrs. WhiteCloud forgot to run the book through the scanner. OOPS! Turn around and bring it back to the check-out desk.
3.) If a group of people is leaving the library and the machine beeps, we don't know what happened. So EVERYONE must turn around and come back to the check-out desk.
If the machine beeps and no one is holding a book that belongs to WMS, that means:
1.) Someone has a public library book. Just keep walking. Books from the Williston Public Library always make our machine beep.
2.) Someone's cell phone set the machine off. Just keep walking.
Remember: If the machine beeps, it serves as a reminder that someone forgot to do something. It does not mean anyone is in trouble. However, if you are holding a book belonging to WMS and the machine beeps but you do not bring it back right away, there will be a consequence. Be responsible.

How to determine if a book is worth AR points:
1. We have most of the books marked in our library that are worth AR points. Look for a golden label like the one in this picture. This book is worth 10 AR points.
2. We don't have every book marked because the AR status of a book may change (one day there isn't a test, the next day there is) so use this link to determine if a book is worth AR points.

Meet Santa Claus. He will sing and dance and put you in the holiday mood year-round. However, his main purpose is to remind you to use technology appropriately and responsibly.
